KIC IT triathlon needs volunteers

Andrew Kalley, of New York, competes in the Stamford KIC IT Triathlon in Columbus Park Sunday June 27, 2010. The race features a mile swim off of Cummings Beach followed by a 24.8 mile bike throughout the city and a 6 mile run finishing at Columbus Park. The event drew more than 500 athletes raising money for Greenwich based Kids in Crisis.

The folks who run the annual KIC IT Triathlon in Stamford are seeking at least 100 more volunteers to make the event a success, we just learned.

Check out this note from KIC It that we received Monday, asking for more people to join the cause:

With the event just 3 weeks away, we hope that you’ll volunteer if you can and reach out to co-workers, friends and family members to help spread the word or to recruit a small team of volunteers.

Why volunteer?

Kids in Crisis (, based in Cos Cob, is Connecticut’s only FREE, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community education programs for children and families. Our emergency shelter facilities are home to children, ages newborn – 17 years old, suffering from abuse, neglect, financial hardship, family illness, addiction and more. Last year alone, Kids in Crisis services helped 6,156 Connecticut children and families.
